The school of computing at Canada's Queen's University have developed a new tool designed to detect when someone is trying to spin something. It's based on an "algorithm designed to measure the amount of deception used in text" and has been trialled during the current election campaign in Canada. Will this see the end of politicians and the like trying to use spin when they address the media or the public? Not likely especially seeing the tool is still in the development stages so the results aren't always going to be accurate. It still sounds like an interesting concept though.
