Maybe its better, in an ignorance-is-bliss kind of way, that I missed the big game last night Theres lots of disappointment, with even poor Johnny expressing sadness (on that note, perhaps we can blame Italian politics?). I can only ima... [Read More]

Let's support the Argentine team!!!

Aussies looking for a second team - follow the two great rules of Aussie sport when choosing:

1. Always support the underdog

2. Never cheer for England

Chris Newlan

Maybe FFA need a good ol fashioned PR strategy among other things to help keep the public interested!

Anna Farmery

Thanks for the never cheer England! From a mad English footie fan I found that funny as your best players have gained their expereince from our league...therefore we have helped you get there! I couldn't believe a nation so determined didn't go for the jugular in that last 20 minutes....can't imagine your rugby team not doing that. Despite the opposition to us English.... I was sorry to see you go out, and not perform on the day...Aussies bring a lot to any sporting event and is always better for having you in a tournament. Maybe to win you need more English Premiership experience.....

Richard Bailey

That's a very level-headed analysis of the match. Never forget that Australia missed Harry Kewell, who had been playing his best football for years and Brett Emerton, your player of the tournament.

Last 16 was a great achievement for this team.

Anna, I must say I will be cheering for England (at least a little), but I'm mostly looking forward to some sensational matches over the next week and a half. I also have a soft spot for Italy and I've been impressed by Argentina and I would like to see Spain do well. Oh, you can see I am a sea of conflicting enthusiasms - I love the World Cup - what a tournament!

Anna Farmery

Oh I will stay subcribed to your blog a little longer then! It is funny whilst blogging you are hit by globalisation, worldwide community etc but that cultural rivalry will always be there!!! And as for branding who would have thought football brands such as Beckham, Ronaldinho, Collina(Bald ref!), manchester united would have become so global....
