The 2010 federal election must be the 'signifying nothing' election. An election in which most voters must be struggling to find anything by way of a significant policy or ideology difference between the two sides. To top it off two uninspiring, indeed insipid, political leaders running dull campaigns crowned with vacuous slogans (moving forward versus real action).
Despite a lack of need for it, we are being flooded with commentary from all the usual outlets plus 24 news TV news channels, bloggers, twitterers and all the rest of it. Much of this stuff is obvious, repetitive and conformist. Each and every poll is analysed to within an inch of its sorry little life. There is a stark paucity of policy analysis.
