It's down AGAIN - "SERVER ERROR - Gmail is temporarily unavailable. Cross your fingers and try again in a few minutes. We're sorry for the inconvenience." BULL - as if google doesn't have a decent enough server. I've found posts on blogs dating back to 2001 with problems like this! I've never had this problem for so long...all morning so far! I NEED MY MAIL - aaarrggghhh!

It's August 20th and I've been getting the Server Error message for the last 24 hours. What a f*cking joke.
Posted by: John | 21 August 2005 at 02:51 AM
Me too - it's now Aug 21st and I'm still getting the same error message as yesterday. WTF??????? I have e-mails that need responding to by Monday - Gmail is my business account. Does anyone know if Google is doing anything to rectify the problem??? If I don't get in by tomorrow morning I'm going to lose business.

I have the same problem for about 5 days now...you should'nt use Gmail for professional ends though, use Outlook or so.
Gmail is still Beta.

**Back to my hotmail**
Posted by: Mag | 31 August 2005 at 08:55 AM
Yup. I've had this problem before and it usually went away in 24 hours or less. Been looking and there aren't any real fixes as far as I can tell. I would send some emails to [email protected]. That might put a fire under their ass.

I'll rather stick to my hotmail account. Bravo hotmail!!!

How to rectify this "server error"
Posted by: Urvashi Agrawal | 05 October 2005 at 01:04 AM
I've been getting this message for 5 days now. It's terrifying, i'm totally dependent on this account. My fault, like keira says you shouldn't become dependent on beta software. It's an absolute disgrace though, whoever heard of a market leading IT company having 5 days downtime. I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever come up again.

I have been getting the "Loading" (on a white page)error on logging into my gmail account...for more than a week. Real frustrating. I have tried what was said in most sites, to no avail...can anyone help?

gmail...
i thought it at the beginning as a professional site. but unfortunately this is far away from professinality. loading error on page really bores me.
back to my yahoo mail. sorry gmail but u deserve this.

I've encountered this, too, and it is frustrating. Google needs to solve these sorts of problems.
That being said, to all of you complaining that you cannot trust your critical email to Gmail, I point out that the Gmail Terms of Service state things like:
"The Service is made available to you for your personal use only."
and
"[Gmail] is provided on an AS IS and AS AVAILABLE basis. Google disclaims all responsibility and liability for the availability, timeliness, security or reliability of the Service. Google also reserves the right to modify, suspend or discontinue the Service with or without notice at any time and without any liability to you."
What part of that did you not understand when you signed up for the service?
Also, FYI, Yahoo, Hotmail, and others make similar disclaimers about their "free" webmail services. You get what you pay for.
(I do not like Microsoft; please remove them from my email address.)

I am also a victim of the overpromoted gmail service... i've been having that f**** server error message for the past 4 days !!!!!!! the mail i have stored there is VERY important for me and it would be a disaster if I would lose them ! i've seen 100++ complaints about this problem.. why aren't they doing anything about it?!!! by the way who are 'they' and how can you contact a tech in person instead of getting this bloody automated response!!!! i'm very frustrated about this !!

What is up with this gmail again? Not loading, and I called Google today and their phone number is wrong. If they do not get their act together tonight they lose me for imer [ever].

tell me about it... i'm waiting for an important mail... and its been about 24hrs since it decided to stop working. so much for the joys of gmail.... but then again, i'm not too keen on getting back onto hotmail...

I registered to this forum to post my workaround to this problem as I see this is somewhat common, "Gmail is temporarily unavailable. Cross your fingers and try again in a few minutes. We're sorry for the inconvenience.".
I wasn't gonna sit around for google to wake up before I can get to my email, so I downloaded and installed Google Talk, and logged with my gmail account. Clicked on the inbox option and tada! I'm in. Now I don't have any problems on this anymore.
