Macquarie Fields riots/ Bankrupt pollies blame the media!

CHRONIC unemployment, heavy-handed police, rampant youth crime and a heatwave were not to blame for last year's Macquarie Fields riots -- it was the media.
As patriotism may be the last refuge of a scoundrel, the media is the last resort of a Labor-controlled NSW parliamentary committee seeking to stick the blame for the violence that erupted in the outer-western Sydney housing commission suburb 18 months ago.

No apology, but church opts to pay up smh.com.au. IT COULD have been settled with two simple words: "We're sorry". But for Sydney's Anglican Diocese, expressing public remorse has proved too hard. Isn't it sad that a church organisation can be so obviously deficient in some basic social skills. Still, when you have to defend an outdated, sexist approach I guess you're a little constrained.
