Australians in virtual world stampede - BizTech - Technology - smh.com.au.
Telstra and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation will announce shortly that they have established, separately, a presence in the cult virtual world of Second Life.
They will join a growing throng of international companies - including Dell, Toyota, Adidas, IBM, and Intel - who have built a base within the virtual world, seeking to test its worthiness as a promotional and commercial tool.
Looks about as exciting as inhabiting a telephone directory or being trapped in a trade show that never ends. Do companies prefer the more controlled environment of SL, rather than more open forms of social media?
Lucky me..next time I'm in SL I'll get crap service and a big bill at the Telstra sim, and I'll get to see Kerry O'Brien waving the red flag with my 8-20c a day at the ABC one :-)
